to non-ferrous ambition.

Three young South Africans set out to build a manufacturing business that creates jobs, grows local industry and makes valuable products right here in the Eastern Cape.

Mohammed Khan, Ebrahim Khan and Maksim Yahia saw an opportunity in South Africa's non-ferrous metals industry: not only to recover copper and aluminium, but to turn them into valuable, locally manufactured products.

They are building Metalcast Foundry to compete on quality while creating jobs, developing skills and growing local industry.

Our roots

A foundation in ferrous metals.

The founders' journey is closely connected to Khan Brothers & Sons, a family business with more than a decade of experience in ferrous metals: trading, processing and export. The business also established the first steel melting unit in the Eastern Cape.

Working in that environment taught the founders how metal is processed, how heavy industrial operations run and how international trade works. It also showed them where their own opportunity lay: non-ferrous metals, specifically copper and aluminium.

Our purpose

Turning ambition into industry.

Metalcast Foundry is being built in Zone 5 of the Coega SEZ in Gqeberha. It will process recycled copper and aluminium into high-value products: aluminium extrusions, aluminium ingots, copper wire and copper ingots.

As a youth-led, B-BBEE Level 1 business, we measure success by more than profit: real jobs, local skills, responsible use of resources and a stronger industrial economy for South Africa.
